Linde, Gotland, Sweden

Married: 2 March 1856
Johanna Christina Norden

Died: 27 January 1859

Eric's birth date was written on his marriage record as '3/11'. This was translated as March 11th; however it should be November 3rd.

Eric worked in an iron works where he weighed the product and kept records - a beautiful penman. Parents did not want him to go to school, but he did and practiced writing with a stick in the ashes when he was emptying ashes. (Florence Ericson Tone 1972 diary)

In 1856 he marrried Johanna Christina in Finspong, Ostergotland, Sweden. She was 20 1/2 years old and he was 27 1/2. (marriage record)

24 August 1856 their first child, Carl Edward (Edward Charles), was born. Eric was 27 years old.
16 March 1858 their second child, Eric Wilhelm (Eric William), was born.

Long ago, Scandinavian men and women would wait until the woman was pregnant before they married. Johannah was five months pregnant when they 'tied the knot'.

Eric died following a cholera epidemic in Jonkoping, Sweden. He was just 30 years old. "'Too much medicine" grandma (his wife) tho't." Florence Ericson Tone
wrote in her 1972 diary. He is buried in the East Cemetery. (E.C. Ericson's travel journal)

East Cemetery is located in Kristine Church, Jonkoping, Sweden.
